Malnutrition: „nutrition club“ founded

CCSC worked out a new concept of Chitungulu Nutrition Clubs, which will be further developed in the next year.

Our first Nutrition Club is located in the area of Chocha, close to Chocha community school, but the idea is to have several local Clubs in Chitungulu, which all aim at enhancing the nutritional value of the diet of infants and their mothers, so that infants grow up healthy and mothers can spread the word about the value of a healthy and varied diet.

At this moment, infants are dying because of malnutrition!

Clubs will be linked to improve situation

The aim is to link the Nutrition Clubs to our Garden projects (we are soon starting another Garden project, more on that in a few week's time), a chicken-rearing project (especially for the eggs) and a link to the local fishermen as well, so that a web is created linking food providers to the various nutrition clubs.

Apart from improving the diet for infants and their mothers, this project will hopefully also create positive spin-offs in terms of development of organizational and enterpreneurial skills, especially for the women.

Any donations for seeds are of course much appreciated!

Sata dissolves ZAWA-Board

President Michael Sata has dissolved the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) Board citing that it has caused suffering in the lives of some Zambians.

The head of state, who was speaking at state house disclosed that he ensure the organization is investigated to have knowledge of issues concerning ZAWA and reconstitute it later.

The President noted that the public service is meant to serve the citizens regardless of political affiliation and not for the benefit of certain individuals.

In which way this will affect the CCSC conservation-project is momentarily not sure.
